75 YEARS AGO, August 2, 1966

♦  Conway’s newest and largest retail outlet, WalMart Discount City, opened with a grand opening ceremony attended among others by Sam Walton of Bentonville and Joe Siebenmorgen, president of the Conway Chamber of Commerce. The store was the fifth WalMart in the country. The 22,500 square foot store opened at 9:00 AM at 1068 Markham Street with hundreds of visitors touring the store.
