A Tale of Two Banks: “Looking Back”

One of the most notable things about modern Conway (besides the roundabouts!) is the large number of banks located in the city. This is a sharp contrast to the 1960s and 1970s when there were only two major full-service banks. They were First National Bank and First State Bank and Trust Company. While strolling through the book and magazine aisle of Wal-Mart recently (yes, I have time to do that now!), I came across a lone copy “Riders of the Purple Sage” by Zane Grey. It brought back a flood of memories about the public library that I frequented while growing up.
