100 YEARS AGO, September 21, 1916

♦  Coach Dan Estes’ chances for a winning football machine are unusually good. Reporting for practice were “Sallow” Dodson, Sam Donnell, Orien Wray and Joe Day, Joe Brooks, the fighting center of several season, arrived last night and will start practicing this afternoon. Graydon Dodson, who tips the beam at nearly 200, is a likely contender for a line berth.

75 YEARS AGO, September 21, 1941

♦  Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Moore, Jr., of Conway talked with their son, T. M. Moore III, stations with the United States army air corps in Porto Rica, by telephone last night. The Southwestern Bell Telephone Company set up a “conference connection” for the parents and son to talk together.

50 YEARS AGO, September 21, 1966

♦  Lee Reaves, director of the Educational Television Station of Conway, said it’s now “very doubtful” the station will be on the air by October 3. “We are just not getting delivery on some vital equipment that was ordered eight months ago with a 90-day delivery time limit,” he reported.
